Song Review: fromis_9 Could Have Done Worse With 'Glass Shoes'

So I never did get around to reviewing ‘Idol School’ because I have this thing called a life so I barely have any time for anything anymore, but I’ve been keeping up with the final group a bit. The top 9 girls from the show formed fromis_9, which may be one of the stupidest group names I’ve heard in a while but sure let’s go with it. They haven’t officially debuted yet, but they did just release their pre-release track ‘Glass Shoes’, and, well, it’s something.

The aesthetic is what I expected from the group even before the teasers were released. ‘Idol School’ was a not-so-subtle nod to stereotypical j-pop girl group style, so I expected a school girl vibe. And, yeah, that’s the style. There’s not much to say about the music video besides that. The girls look cute; the styling is predictable.

I will say that they fucked Saerom up with this hair style though. She was one of the memorable beauties of ‘Idol School’ and they went and messed her up.

There’s not really much to say about the song. I was expecting a GFriend/APink hybrid and that’s exactly what I got. It’s reasonably catchy, none of the girls sound out of place, and I don’t mind replaying it. What I wasn’t expecting was the quality. It’s not as well-polished as one would hope, but it’s not horrible.

The dance is alright. We only see glimpses of it during the MV, which is fine. They did, however, perform the entire song at MAMA Japan, and we got to see the whole dance.

They seem to have changed the dance slightly, but it looks clean and cohesive. The moves fit with the song. Some of these girls aren’t dancers, so I wasn’t expecting a dance heavy song. It’s a little boring, but whatever. It’s a pre-release so it’s not as bad as it could be.

Overall, ‘Glass Shoes’ is not the mess I had feared, and shows that the group has some promise. I do hope that their actual debut has some punch to it though; ‘Idol School’ and fromis_9 don’t have a lot of hype and a good song could broaden their fanbase some.

Though I’m still a little bitter because at this point I’m convinced that Hayoung has some magic in her and that she somehow killed Crayon Pop’s Soyul’s career using it.

Like seriously she looks like Soyul.

The Ultimate Loona Theory (Part 1 - Music Video Analysis)

So, I’ve gone back and forth on what to do for this Loona theory. Basically, with every new installment in the lore, I have to completely rework what I thought was going on. I’ve got a pretty good idea of some things though, so I’m going to be discussing those. This discussion will have an analysis of every single video on the music video playlist on loonatheworld. If Blockberry Creative said that every single music video is connected, then every single music video has to be discussed. I will also present a proposed timeline of events. Before I start, I should mention that at this point we know that there are at least three distinct worlds in the Loonaverse: the real world, the Odd Eye Circle world (which is highly connected to the real world through a Mobius strip), and Eden. Each girl can be distinctly seen in at least two worlds, and sometimes, either implicitly or explicitly, all three. Okay then, let’s begin. Heejin - ViViD When I first starte...

"FavOriTe", "Hi High", and the Complete Predebut Story of LOONA

I’ve been thinking a lot about “Hi High” and its place in LOONA’s lore. As this is LOONA’s debut as a full twelve-member group, I wanted to make sure that I put proper time and care into this theory so that it’s as cohesive as possible. I would have liked to get this done sooner, but honestly, it’s been difficult. I now work a full-time job, so making time to write out these theories has become harder. I am, however, committed to this, so better late than never. In regard to “FavOriTe”, I don’t think there’s much there in the way of lore or story. If I had to put it in the timeline, it would be the very last video story-wise. We see all the twelve girls together, and therefore we can assume that this video marks the end of their journey to find one another. If you have not yet watched either “FavOriTe” or “Hi High”, here are the link to watch them, which I highly recommend: Back to “Hi High”, I’m going to do things a little bit differently this time around. I’m goi...

The Ultimate LOONA Theory: yyxy "love4eva"

So I would have had this posted sooner but I am so livid. I am so livid because up until this point everything worked so well together. All the videos fit together in a very obvious way to me. Everything LOONA acted as various puzzle pieces that combined together with no hassle. While I put a lot of effort into my theory, I haven't had to change anything around. I've never had to change my line of thinking. Until now. With LOONA's third sub-unit, yyxy, I've had to rethink many things that I thought true about the Loonaverse, and I hate it. I absolutely HATE being wrong. I have lived my life being more or less right about everything that I have chosen to do. With this theory, I could handle being completely wrong about the entire thing because there's probably going to be no actual confirmation about the correctness about this. But for a tiny thing like this one video, I absolutely hate being wrong. With that being said, let's begin. In a random turn ...
