Nine's Top 50 K-Pop Songs of 2017 (January - June): 10-1

Here it is, the final instalment of this series. This is my top 10, which are my favourite songs released so far this year. There are some that I think everyone will have on their list, and others that I think you'll side eye me for liking so much. Okay, here we go! 10. Always - Produce 101 I fucking love ballads, okay. I fucking love them. I love sentimental shit, and after all the crap Produce 101 put me through, this is the sentimental shit I deserve. It's just very melodic and soft and beautiful. I especially love the bridge sung by Daehwi and Sungwoon, as well as the soft repetition of the chorus by Jaehwan and Dongho. The rap parts are alright; they're unfortunately necessary when you have a group with a few dedicated rappers. I'm also pretty sure this is the first time I've ever heard Daniel rap. 9. Lonely - Sistar Remember what I just said about sentimental shit? It applies here as well. As a goodbye song, 'Lonely' executes it so much bet

Nine's Top 50 K-Pop Songs of 2017 (January - June): 20-11

And now it's time for the fourth and penultimate instalment in this series that no one wanted but I made anyways. Looking at these songs, I can see that these are the songs that I listen to an obscene amount. I mean, this is a top songs list so I should hope I listen to these songs, but y'know. Okay, let's go! 20. Hwi Hwi - Laboum I'm going to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Laboum's releases. Before this song came out, I really only liked 'What About You' and 'Shooting Love', so their releases are really hit or miss for me. But this song is genuinely enjoyable. I'm a sucker for whistle sounds in instrumentals, and the "I miss this kiss" part is super catchy and fun to listen to. The call and response sections are super effective as well. There's also not a gratuitous rap section, so 'Hwi Hwi' was designed to win. 19. Super Hot - Produce 101 This is so freaking funky; you can't help but groove when liste

Nine's Top K-Pop Songs of 2017 (January - June): 30-21

Here's part 3 of this series. If you didn't already know what kind of k-pop songs I liked before this list, you'll understand now. I'm serious, I have a type. Please Enjoy! 30. I Wish - Cosmic Girls (WJSN) If you know me from Twitter, you might remember that my number 1 song of 2016 was WJSN's 'Secret'. Unfortunately, neither of their releases live up to that glory, but 'I Wish' is a pretty damn good song. The key is comfortably high pitched, the chorus is effective, and Yeonjung's voice is flawless. Exy's rap feels a little out of place, but that happens with k-pop rap breaks. My biggest flaw is that there's really no rise to the song; the ad-libs at the end are very artificial. At the end of the day, this is a song that makes me smile and that's why I listen to k-pop. 29. I Know You Know - Boys Under The Moonlight (Produce 101) Another song that just makes you smile. This entire song just screams SM to me, which is under

Nine's Top K-Pop Songs of 2017 (January - June): 40 - 31

Here's part two of what I guess is going to be a five part series of my favourite k-pop songs of the first half of 2017. Part 1 can be found here . Without further ado, let's head onto part 2! 40. Hobgoblin - CLC The song CLC should have debuted with. This is their strongest song since their debut with 'Pepe' back in 2015. I'll admit that the transition to this was a little jarring and sort of felt like Cube was waiting for 4Minute to die for CLC to go this route, but whatever. This song is freaking awesome. The rap feels right and everyone's voices sounds good. And, honestly, this is the only concept that Eunbin rocks; she felt out of place to me in the cutesy concepts. 39. Showtime - It's (Produce 101) This was the concept in Produce 101 that I was looking forward to the most because a bunch of my faves were in this. This song is just plain fun and pleasant to listen to. Woodam's voice fits it so well, Samuel's voice shines as well, and

Nine's Top 50 K-Pop Songs (January - June): 50-41

So because I'm self-absorbed I made a list of my top 50 k-pop songs assuming that you people will enjoy something like that. So here's the first part of this list. 50. Bing Bing - AOA This was the lesser of the two AOA title tracks this year. It's not an amazing song, per se, but there's something fun about it. I think half of it is how amazing ChoA's voice sounds in the chorus, and listening to this song makes me feel really sad that we won't get that anymore. Also, this is the return of Jimin's #iconic "HEY!", which makes this song an instant classic. 49. Nayana - Produce 101 If it wasn't already stupidly obvious, I love Produce 101. Therefore, I have listened to this song a stupid amount of times. It's a much better song than other similar ones out there, and is much better than last year's "Pick Me". 48. Honey Bee - Luna, Hani, and Solar This is very much in line with the kind of music that's not k-pop

Show Review: Produce 101 Season 2 Episode 4

After a million years of putting off writing this, I’m finally getting around to episode 4. I now have the added challenge of seeing how fast I can push out reviews before I disappear for ten days in July but I’m literally averaging like 20 views a post so I don’t think anyone cares. Episode 4 starts off with a recap of episode 3. No one cares. Next. This entire episode is just performances, so I’ll do pretty much the same thing that I did for episode 3. I’ll go team by team and write about the pre-up to the performance, put a link to the actual performance, and then write about the performance itself. After that I’ll put who my winner was and who the actual winner was. Okay let’s begin. Replay So one of the biggest things about this battle is how different the two teams are and I think it’ll be very apparent which is more my style very quickly. Team 1 ·       If you guessed that the team that was my style was this team, you’d be wrong. I’m all for cute
